SUSAN HUDSON   RCA

Susan Hudson lives and works in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
She moved there from Montreal, where she was the Chair of the Department of Design Art,
Faculty of Fine Arts, Concordia University.
As a professor, Susan taught and practiced image making, both applied and experimental.
She continues her studio work in Lunenburg using a varied range of media.
Both traditional and non traditional work incorporating collages of evocative subject matter
are her manner of image making. Her imagination reaches out to create abstracted scenes
that include elements of reality.
In 1999, Susan Hudson, RCA was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts.
She is president and founder of the artists’ co-operative, Peer Gallery located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

All paintings are acrylic on canvas, various sizes. Some incorporate a photographic images or images.
All photographic elements are taken by Susan Hudson

Drawings of Fairy Tales 
exhibits work that is based on fairy tales.
These drawings are created by pen & ink & water colour on handmade 8 ply paper.
The paper is very thick almost like cardboard and is made up of a cotton fiber.
Digital Prints  exhibits Susan's photography and also combines scanned images.
These are juxtaposed with each other. The prints are printed with archival ink on paper.
Paintings of Fantasy  are a mix of acrylic paintings and in some cases with photographic
elements glued onto the canvas as a collage effect.
Paintings of Growth  are a continuance of the previous theme
except there is more emphasis on plant form and nature.
Paintings of Textile  exhibits paintings based on a theme of ruffled sheets,
beds that are unmade and quilts
